Owed to Lovecraft by brigebane Owed to Lovecraft by brigebane
I think I've been reading too much H.P. Lovecraft lately, from the Lurking Fear to The Call of Cthulu, these are definitely some of my favorite pieces of horror fiction. To quote Lovecraft simply " Common sense is merely the stupid lack of imagination and mental flexibility" I appreciate the mans descriptive means and appreciate the apparitions that manifest from ink to the paper.
Some Tentacled beast done in pen and ink on archival pad, 9x12"

Nice, which one of Lovecraft's insane, tentacled creations is this? Is it just inspired by his stories?

This is amazing. I myself am a Lovecraft fan. <3 Though my favorite is Carter's story. Don't remember what it's called, but I think the main character was named Carter something. Yeah... awesome work.

Very well done. I really like the ink spattering effect you've used on the tentacles.

Liked this very much, and you almost didn't need all the teeth as you got the tentacles to look so effective!

deffinatly love this. it reminds me of samiel, from hellboy. but, seeing as the director likes lovecrafts work a lot, it seems fitting.
good work!

Oh my.... that looks awesome XD
And yes, i agree comeplely. The way lovecraft uses and plays with words is amazing.. Thou a little frustrating as well... lol For example, when he has you on the edge of your seat with anticipation, you drooling over the pages devouring the words and images, with so much want to know WHAT it is the charactr is seeing, what it's experiencing and then.... "Oh woe is I!!! It's too much to bare! It's SO horible so maddening that there are no human words to utterly describe it..." Oh, that at times frustrates me because I'm just itching to know what he was about to say.. and that's like a cockblocker.... lol ^^;
But then i get over my little dilema, finish reading it and just plainly love the piece. I don't thinkig there has been any bad piece of work from him.

Again, sweet inks, man. I'm a big fan of Lovecraft myself, so this one had instant appeal to me. Love the contrasts between light and the blacks.

Gotta say, his stories touch horror on more of a mental scale. Also, some of the most difficult reading I've ever done... Great piece, looks like an "Old One" perhaps? Great image
